How much can I save?

Even after travel, accommodation, and physiotherapy, you can easily save up tom 80%, or tens-of-thousands of dollars. For most, that is money better spent.

Why is it so much more affordable?

There are several reasons why orthopedic surgery can be so much less expensive in other countries: 1. Procedures are priced for local markets. The cost of a procedure is equivalently priced to the cost of living in each country. Doctors and nurses typically make less as compared to North America, but they are very well paid by local standards. Housing costs, food costs, etc are also much less. In addition, medical materials and medication are also priced for local markets which reduces cost. 2. Countries like Taiwan are well known to have one of the most efficient healthcare system on the planet, one that is often studied as an example for healthcare reform in the United States. It is four times more efficient in terms of the delivery of healthcare than the US, and this translates into lower costs for procedures.

What about the quality of the medical care?

We often are under the impression that our healthcare and delivery are the best in the world. People are often surprised to learn that a small country like Costa Rica is ranked higher than the US by The World Health Organization (WHO) in terms of healthcare. That is why tens of thousands of people travel there every year for medical and dental care. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) actually ranks the Taiwan healthcare system as the second best in the world behind only Sweden. It is important to remember that in each of the world’s major metropolitan centers, there are world-class hospitals that attract the top surgeons in each country. All of the hospitals we offer are accredited by The Joint Commission International (JCI). JCI is the benchmark on which all other healthcare facilities are judged. It is the international arm of the same body that accredits 18,000 US healthcare facilities. This accrediting process can take several years, and it subjects each facility to a comprehensive review. All of our surgeons are renowned orthopedic specialists who are already treating a large number of international patients.
